Heather grew up in Freeport and graduated from Freeport High School. After graduating from Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin with a B.A. in Economics, and from Marquette University Law School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Heather returned to Freeport to practice law with her father, Malcolm C. McPherson. Malcolm and Heather continue to practice together.
Heather’s practice is concentrated in estate planning, estate and trust administration, estate and trust litigation, guardianships, real estate, and elder law. She is licensed in Illinois as well as Wisconsin. Heather has been extremely active in the Illinois State Bar Association since 2004, and is a former chair of the Elder Law Section Council (2009 – 2010). She has been involved in several legislative projects through the Illinois State Bar Association. Heather is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education seminars for attorneys. She also has published many articles and has co-edited Southern Illinois Law Journal’s “Survey of Illinois Law: Elder Law” for many years.
Heather enjoys giving back to her community and is active in many organizations including Freeport Art Museum and FHN Foundation. She serves on several local boards and participates in volunteer projects. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, golfing, and traveling.
