In Good Day Illinois on July 26 I wrote about sweet corn being for sale all over Northwest Illinois and that the season was just too short. Recently, I saw the children of one of my old farm clients who died a few years ago. It brought home memories of many of my clients over the years who brought sweet corn to our office at this time of the year. The years have gone so fast. Many of them are gone now. Now I know the truth. I don’t miss the sweet corn. I miss seeing my old friends at this time of the year, and the sweet corn was just good excuse to see each other. So when I see sweet corn for sale, I think of my clients who are now gone and I do miss them. It is not the sweet corn.
A Sad Time of the Year on a Personal Note
