The Freeport City Council will be meeting on Monday, August 3 at 6:00 pm at 524 W. Stephenson Street, 3rd Floor. You can watch it live on Comcast Channel 17.  

The Mayor has appointed Elmo B. Dowd of Rockford, Illinois as the new Community Development Director.  Mr. Dowd has a good bureucratic and Democratic pedigree for what that is worth! He worked in the administrations of Governors Blagojevich and Quinn – and look at the condition of this State!  Mr. Dowd joined the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) in 2006, as Senior Policy Advisor in the Associate Director’s office. Mr. Dowd has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University and is a past Policy Fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs.
