Everything is Perfect in the City of Freeport Now That We Have a City Manager! TRUE OR FALSE?

Someone commented that Good Day Illinois has been quiet recently, and that I must be happy with the situation in the City of Freeport and the country as whole.   That is so far from the truth.  Frankly, I have stopped commenting on the situation in Freeport because people do not seem to care.  For example, I have commented on the deplorable condition of the streets in Freeport, and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.  Consider the following:

Pot holes continue to proliferate in the City.  The City Manager better get out of City Hall and start driving around the City.   Take a look at the pot holes on Woodside Drive.   How can the police drive in this area without reporting the dangerous condition of this street?   The City Administration is concerned about crime in the City, but does not seem to care about the intentional neglect of our streets which can also cause, directly or indirectly, injuries to our citizens, and untold dollars of property damage to our vehicles.    Why must someone be killed or seriously injured due solely to the neglect of the Street Department to perform basic maintenance on our streets?  The answer is simple – NO IN ONE THIS ADMINSTRATION CARES.  If anyone cared, this problem would have been addressed long ago.

Meantime the Committee of the Whole for the City of Freeport will meet Monday, December 11, 2017, at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, 314 West Stephenson Street, Freeport, Illinois.  The deplorable condition of our streets is not on the agenda.  Of course, they will discuss hiring a debt collection agency to collect money owed to the City of Freeport including 1.2 million dollars in unpaid water and sewer bills.   To me 1.2 million is a lot of money not to collect, but to those bureaucrats running the City of Freeport’s Water and Sewer Department that is ‘chump change.”  Just think if they had this money to spend on streets.   Forget it!  The money would not be spent on streets, just on more people to work at City Hall.  That is the government way!
