We Will Miss Our Mail Carriers Who Are The Best!

The post office to save money will probably stop Saturday delivery in the near future and the cost of stamps will be going up again. Delivery to a mail box attached to your residence will also end with everyone having to put a mail box along the street or go to centralized pickup boxes. This is already the case in newer neighborhoods. What an ugly sight – all those mail boxes on every street! Our mail carriers are the best. They know their customers, and often are the first to notice that something is wrong. We will pay a price for these changes, and you cannot put a dollar value on what we will lose. Our mail carriers not only say “You Have Mail,” but they ask you “How are you?” And they mean it. We are losing part of America and it is sad.

Case of the Week – Jay Leno of The Tonight Show Sued by Flight Attendant!

A former flight attendant sued American Airlines claiming her co-workers falsely reported that she was carrying pet rats on work flights. Jay Leno joked about the lawsuit. To make matters worse, there was panel of comedians who commented on the lawsuit. The flight attendant in suing Jay Leno and NBC claims that she was falsely accused of “engaging in bestiality and sexual misconduct with a rat.” For an article on the lawsuit see

It is rumored that when Jay Leno was asked about the lawsuit replied – I don’t give a rat’s a## what they think. So much for derogatory comments about rats!

When the rat was asked to comment, the rat replied – I only fly American!

Mayor and Council Prepared for Thanksgiving at Last Meeting on November 18 by Stuffing Rental Ordinance Down the Throats of the Citizens of This Community!

Freeport City Council Meeting Monday, December 2, 2013, 6:00 pm
City Council Chambers at 524 West Stephenson Street, 3rd Floor
If you have Comcast Cable, go to channel 17 to watch live.

Hope the Mayor and Council enjoyed their Thanksgiving Holiday. At the last meeting on November 18 the Council passed the Residential Rental Property Ordinance ignoring comments made by citizens of this community and Good Day Illinois. The solution is not more laws, but enforcement of existing laws and establishing priorities. Unfortunately, many of the same people are still in the Gitz adminstration –such as police chief (just now retiring), city attorney, community development director, and public works director – all whom presided over and contributed to the failed policies of the past. Enough said – in fact saying anything is a waste of time.

Some items of interest on the agenda are as follows:

Appointment of Interim Police Chief

1st Reading of Levy Ordinances for City and Library (Fiscal Year May 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014

1st Reading of Ordinance for Variance for Generations Brewing Company LLC to build a Brewery at 1400 S. Adams Avenue, Freeport
